Entry Level Mobile Mechanic

  

JOB RESPONSIBILITES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs preventive maintenance such as changing oil, greasing and replacing parts on a scheduled basis
  • Under supervision, troubleshoots and diagnoses heavy equipment malfunctions and replaces parts and performs repairs, and rebuilds as necessary.
  • Disassembles and assembles equipment and components, utilizing air tools and hand tools
  • May safely operate equipment such as; Overhead cranes, boom trucks and forklifts
  • Uses schematics, service  manuals and parts lists in setting up and performing repairs and  rebuilds
  • Ability to use and understand specialty tools such as micrometers, multi-meters, tachometer and laser temperature sensors
  • Operates the equipment to diagnose problems, position for shop-housed maintenance or to test operate after repair
  • Performs other duties as required
  • Performs all duties and activities in a manner that conforms to safety requirements
  • Maintain work area cleanliness and work practices

Position Qualification

  • Knowledge:
  1. Knowledge of Engines, transmissions, drive trains, hydraulic and electrical systems

 

  • Skills & Abilities:
  1. Ability to understand and use schematics and service manuals
  2. Skill in diagnosing malfunctions

 

  • Education:
  1. On-the-job experience and Vocational Training

 

  • Formal Education, Certifications or Equivalents:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Experience:
  1. One year experience in repair and maintenance of heavy equipment or completion of a two  (2) year associate degree in diesel repair technology

 

MUST BE ABLE TO WORK 12 HOUR ROTATING SHIFTS INCLUDING NIGHTS, WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS
