Mine Operations Shift Supervisor

JOB RESPONSIBILITES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Interact with the mine trainer to develop and train qualified equipment operators
  2. Interact with the drill and blast supervisor to ensure safe and effective blasting operations
  3. Enforce company safety standards
  4. Drive a culture of safety, environmental responsibility, and high performance
  5. Follow mine plans
  6. Follow environmental standards
  7. Follow pit slope management practices
  8. Execute pit dewatering

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Leadership skills
  2. Ability to communicate effectively
  3. Experience supervising groups of employees
  4. Experience directing the work of contractors

 

Knowledge:

  1. Know capabilities of mobile mining equipment
  2. Drilling and blasting practices including controlled drilling and blasting techniques utilizing electronic programmable detonators
  3. Large-scale earth moving operations
  4. Mine dewatering
  5. Pit slope control

 

Education:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent

 

Experience:

  1. Supervision in Mine or quarry with progressively increased levels of responsibility 
  2. Familiar with MSHA regulations
  3. Dealing with regulatory entities

Reasoning Ability:

  1. Must possess the ability to apply common sense or logic to a problem solving solution

MUST BE ABLE TO WORK 12 HOUR ROTATING SHIFTS INCLUDING NIGHTS, WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS
