Environmental Technician

The role

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Environmental Technician to join our Environmental Department. Reporting to the Senior Environmental Advisor - Operations, you will be responsible for conducting environmental monitoring on mining activities to ensure compliance with Consent Conditions can be demonstrated.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Ensuring all monitoring is done on time and in accordance with site procedures. This includes the participation in an on-call roster to provide 24 /7 coverage for monitoring
  • Carry out monitoring and sampling of sound, dust, vibration, rehabilitation projects, bird life, soils, water quality and quantity
  • Maintenance of all monitoring equipment
  • Collect meteorological data

The successful candidate will have

We are looking for an individual with excellent communication skills. You will ideally have a minimum of two years' experience in a similar role within the mining or construction industry is preferred with knowledge of monitoring equipment. The preferred candidate will have a good understanding of the Microsoft suite of software including Excel, Word and Outlook. As this is field based role the preferred candidate will need to have a moderate level of fitness and hold a current full New Zealand driver's licence with the ability to drive manual vehicles (preferably 4WD).
