Field Technician

If you’re keen to get into mining, but you’re not sure where to start, then here’s your chance - and you don’t even have to leave New Zealand.

How about starting as an Open Pit Field Technician at Macraes Goldfield? We’re the largest goldmine in New Zealand, just over an hour away from both Dunedin and Oamaru.

You’ll collect samples of rock from the mine during drilling, then deliver them to the lab. There’s a bit of light data entry during the course of the day, but other than that you don’t need more than basic IT skills. And you’ll get full training, so all you need is an interest in the mining industry, a clean driver’s licence, and the ability to communicate and follow instructions.

This is a great opportunity to experience life at a mine and see what your future options might look like. It’s a permanent role, you don’t need any formal qualifications, and a good salary is on offer - not quite at the levels of the big Aussie mines - but if you’re good, you could move up the ranks and the pay scale pretty quickly.

You’ll find a lot to keep you in the game. You’ll work a roster with seven days on, seven days off - imagine getting a week-long weekend - and the job’s so busy that the days you’re on go fast. You’ll work with a great team, and very quickly find good mates on-site.

You’ll have to pass pre-employment medical and fitness assessments, including alcohol and drug testing, but don’t worry, that’s just part of the process.

You won’t find a better entry-level mining role than this. And if you’re prepared to work for it, you probably won’t find a better start to a successful career in an industry that’s full of opportunity.

Applications close Sunday, 20 January 2019.

Applicants must be eligible to work in New Zealand.

NO APPLICATIONS FROM EMPLOYMENT AGENCIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.
