OceanaGold's Dunedin office is seeking a Legal Assistant to join the team. The ideal candidate will be a team player who collaborates and engages through effective legal support in alignment with OceanaGold's Purpose, Vision and Values. This is an opportunity to develop your experience within a legal team in an expanding gold mining business.

The role

The Legal Assistant is responsible for providing high quality administrative support and assistance, and Company Secretary functions, to the General Manager Corporate and Legal Affairs and the wider OceanaGold legal team.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Management of the Teambinder Contracts Database and NZ legal Central Filing System, including upload of NZ contracts
  • Auditing Agreement expiries and renewals and sending reminders to Principal's Representatives and Contract Administrators
  • Analysing contract coverage based on creditor spend periodically and producing other contract reports
  • Preparing Contract Summary documents and managing the contract approval and execution process, including ensuring alignment with company standards and processes in relation to the financial authority framework
  • Reviewing credit application terms and conditions in line with OG legal and commercial requirements
  • Assisting in preparation of residential and commercial property matters
  • NZ Company Secretary duties including preparing all board meeting requirements and regulatory filings
  • Project manage systems upgrades/innovations
  • Monitor Bond expiries in conjunction with the Senior Legal Counsel and prepare associated documents
  • EA support to the GM Legal and Corporate Affairs NZ

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • A tertiary qualification or prior relevant work experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, legal correspondence/contract drafting experience (preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively multi-task and prioritise, manage confidential and time sensitive matters, exceptional organisational skills
  • Experience working with or corresponding with government departments and regulators (preferred)
  • Previous experience in Teambinnder, Diligent, Docusign, Pronto would be an advantage
  • Minimum five years high-level administrative or executive support experience
