Fleet Maintenance Supervisor

OceanaGold's Macraes Mine is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to join the team. The ideal candidate will be highly experienced in heavy engineering plant equipment and a leader who engages with their team, in alignment with OceanaGold’s Purpose, Vision and Values. Macraes is New Zealand's largest mining operation employing over 650 people and contractors. This role is working within the open pit mine, reporting to the Maintenance Foreman.

The role:

Working 8 days on, 6 days off, 7 nights on, 7 nights off roster, supervising maintenance teams to ensure safe, efficient and effective maintenance is delivered to the open pit mining operations fleet. The position is expected to be around 25% hands-on with a high degree of professionalism and quality workmanship required to ensure cost effective maintenance and repairs are delivered.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Supervision of respective maintenance teams (including contractors)
  • Manage the performance of maintenance crews, to ensure all work is carried out safely and that it is preformed to acceptable standards
  • Ensure smooth and comprehensive shift handovers are completed
  • Liaise with stores regarding spares and parts holdings relating to mechanical maintenance
  • Ensure daily equipment inspections are carried out on critical plant, excavators and drills
  • Maintaining the daily in progress report in Pronto and ensuring weekly maintenance plan is on schedule
  • Attending and repairing breakdowns of the mining fleet and ancillary plant
  • Basic repairs to electrical systems on the mining fleet and ancillary plant
  • Provide leadership and coaching to establish a strong culture of continuous improvement
  • Perform all work and associated functions safely, correct use of PPE and obey all written and verbal health and safety instructions

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • National Certificate in Automotive Heavy Engineering - Plant and Equipment Level 4 / 5 or equivalent.
  • Full and current driver's licence, ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred
  • Desirable; are certificates in: first aid; forklift; overhead gantry and non-slewing crane; rigging and slinging and work at height, ICAM investigator and mining S1, S2 and S3
  • Proficiency in using Pronto or a similar computerised maintenance management system
  • Experience with MS Office suit will be an advantage.
  • Minimum two years experience as a supervisor working in a mining maintenance environment.
  • Five years experience post qualification in the repairs, maintenance and field service of heavy mining machinery in open pit environments including large mining excavators, trucks, drills, graders, dozers and ancillary equipment
