Specialist – Maintenance Planning

The role

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, this position will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and proactive parts acquisition for the Maintenance Department. Responsible for developing, managing and controlling all aspects of planning (7 days +). Acting as a liaison between the Maintenance Supervisor and Operations, this individual will be a key team member in assuring the daily and weekly maintenance schedules are effectively created in a timely and efficient manner with little or no issues related to parts procurement or resource availability.

Key tasks and responsibilities include the following:

  • Maintaining a safe working environment through compliance with the company’s Health & Safety Program
  • Complying with the Maintenance Planner/Scheduler’s roles and responsibilities defined in the backlog management, planning, scheduling, and urgent/break-in work processes.
  • Conversion of the output of maintenance program development to structured work templates
  • Maintains backlog to effectively manage maintenance work
  • Scoping jobs as necessary to include: All necessary job steps, required tooling, drawings and diagrams, parts, manpower, and safety elements to be addressed
  • Coordinating with supply chain to generate material purchase orders and agreed delivery dates
  • Coordination with various contractors providing services

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • A related technical diploma, or engineering degree with supervisory/lead experience is preferred.
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office functions.
  • Previous experience as a scheduler is a significant asset.
  • A Safety conscious and positive work attitude
  • A full and current driver's licence with the ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred
