The role

OceanaGold are seeking an experienced Financial Analyst to join the newly established CI team. You will be responsible for the initial development of the CI generic business models and business case templates across various business functions. The role includes responsibility for the management of all reporting functions across the CI department, introducing a Project Lifecycle model and reporting of projects across the lifecycle.

Key tasks and responsibilities include the following:

  • Development of analytical models used across the CI department for the various CI Projects across the mine site and the understanding of how each model develops the specific business case in that specific area
  • Assisting the line management teams in the development of their respective CI projects and development of the specific business cases
  • Responsibility for individual project budgeting and development of the project ranking for each project within the overall site CI process and the positioning of each project within the overall site budgeting process both for the yearly budgets and quarterly forecasts
  • Responsibility for overall project reporting on active projects and management of the Project Life Cycle across individual projects as well as consolidated CI project profiles, with reporting against milestones, schedules, and costs per project
  • Monitoring of project implementation and once completed the operational post project reviews
  • Lead and facilitate monthly overview / reviews of the CI projects involving the CI Manager, the CI team, and the Senior Management team
  • Assist the CI project selection process supporting each of the CI department team members and the senior management team resulting in a final CI project priority
  • Ensure the final list of CI projects are based on technical and economic fundamentals and each project represents the best business case fundamentals as per the selection process
  • Ensure each CI project has an agreed schedule, budget, and a defined outcome with monthly reporting against these key KPI's for each chosen project
  • Conduct project reviews monthly with the CI Manager and team, and the senior management team and quarterly to the Corporate CI Project Review meeting
  • Maintain cost management reporting across all defined CI projects and ensure reporting against the approved project budgets
  • Provide leadership and coaching to establish a strong culture of continuous improvement
  • Ensure compliance at all times to the mine safety protocols and systems

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Tertiary Finance/Accounting qualification, or equivalent, at degree level (required)
  • Formal training or qualifications in Continuous Improvement (preferred)
  • Full and current driver's licence, ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred
  • three to five years of Management Accounting experience
  • Experience of Analytical Statistics
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles of project management, including cost control, safety performance, fostering of professional relationships, and schedule reporting and delivery
