Job Description

To assist the Superintendent - Fixed Plant Maintenance, to lead and supervise the electrical compliance and systems for the open pit mine operations. Assisting with contractor management and efficiently maintaining the reliability of the electrical systems across the surface facilities.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Schedule work requests and job orders using Pronto and Sockeye.
  • Co-ordinate electrical maintenance activities for the Surface Mining department and develop planned preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Supervise and assist with the implementation of the planned preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Generate preventive maintenance activities for equipment with a high level of asset criticality and develop preventive maintenance plans and schedules.
  • Liaise with stores personnel to expedite the timely supply of equipment, by providing recommendations for inventory levels and specifications regarding the type and quality of spares.
  • Assist with estimates and costs for prospective new projects or modifications when requested.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to establish a strong culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure human and industrial relations issues are handled in a timely and effective manner.
  • Coach, support and develop the team to build knowledge and skills to provide coverage and to build succession plans.
  • Ensure that all work is carried to the highest standard and in accordance with safety policies.

Qualifications

  • Formal Electrical trade qualification.
  • Current registration with the New Zealand Electrical Workers Registration Board with Mining Endorsement
  • Full and current driver licence and competence driving a manual vehicle.

Ideal Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years post-apprenticeship experience within a processing or heavy industry environment.
  • A minimum of 2 years mining industry (or equivalent heavy industry) experience.
  • Previous experience in a leadership and contractor management roles highly regarded     
  • Knowledge across the New Zealand Mining and Quarrying regulations advantageous
  • Experience of lean maintenance systems such as Six-Sigma or equivalent highly regarded.
  • Experience scheduling and planning maintenance work would be an advantage.
  • A working knowledge of Pronto, Sockeye, INX or similar electronic maintenance systems beneficial
