OceanaGold are seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and motivated Senior Geologist – Hydrogeology to effectively plan and de-risk the mining operation against the adverse effects of the surface and ground water that present risk to the short- and long-term objectives of the Didipio Operations. The role will report to the Superintendent – Water Management.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Manage and implement the collection of hydrological and hydrogeological data
- Design and implement subsurface dewatering systems such as water bores and depressurization drains
- Design systems to manage groundwater in underground operations
- Prepare reports for internal and external use
- Supervise, mentor and familiarise the team with the installation and general maintenance of hydrogeological equipment and hydrological systems
- Analyze data, modeling trends and modelling groundwater pressured flow
- Develop and review Trigger Action Response Plans (TARPS) for various hydrogeological related instances
- Participate in the regular review and audit of the Inundation and Inrush PHMP and Water Management Plan
- Implement the objectives, standards, and targets set accordingly within the Water Management Plan
- Prepare monthly, and quarterly technical reports and ability to manage hydrological and hydrogeological data

- Tertiary qualifications in Geology, Hydrogeology, or Geological Engineering
- Licensed Engineer
- Minimum of 5 years working experience in Mining or Hydrogeology
- With a valid Professional Driver’s license
- With experience in hydrological drilling logistics, planning, and execution
- With experience in Slug Testing, Packer Testing, Hydrochemistry analysis
- Proficient in 3D software packages (Leapfrog, Modflow, Surpac, Deswik, Feflow, Aquifer Test Pro, QGIS, etc)
- With strong management and leadership skills
- Possess a strong drive for health and safety management
