Job Description

The Macraes Open Pit operation are currently seeking a Field Technician Supervisor to join their team. This role includes leading the Field Technician teams to safely and efficiently carry out tasks associated with grade control and ore mining, including ore definition and grade protection. Through sound grade control practices, you will ensure quality levels are maintained to facilitate the mining plan objectives without sacrificing the quality of the ore zone.

Key Requirements:

  • Manage grade control drilling and sample collection activities
  • Supervise the Field Technicians in the field and ensure adherence to plans and quality standards
  • Clearly communicate any risks or opportunities to geologists and Geology Superintendent
  • Ensure all Field Technicians are trained to required standards and this training is correctly logged
  • Provide leadership and coaching to establish a strong culture of continuous improvement
  • Attend pre-shift safety and tool-box safety meetings, ensure correct PPE is being used and keep high H&S standards
  • Complete Stop-Think and Job Safety Analysis for tasks, incident, and hazard reporting
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), and be involved with development / revision of these when required

Qualifications

 

  • Hold a full, clean, current driver’s license and are confident driving a manual vehicle
  • Minimum of six (6) years working in a mining environment with experience in Grade Control drilling and sampling.
  • Previous Supervisory experience would be well regarded
  • An earth sciences degree is preferable however not essential
  • Project management qualifications would be highly regarded
