Job Description

Due to an internal promotion, our busy Process Plant at Macraes is on the search for a Control Room Operator. This position will work 7 days on / 7 days off / 7 nights on / 7 days off, 6:45am/pm to 7:00pm/am daily.

This role will be responsible for operating the Control Room functions to optimise process plant production requirements safely within defined ranges from the critical variable sheet. Use expertise to make adjustments to the plant ensuring production is optimised.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Monitor and optimise process plant production requirements using DCS and PI.
  • Ensure all operators and other plant personnel keep parameters in defined ranges set on the critical plant operating sheet.
  • Ensure all critical information and shift activities are documented adequately to ensure an effective handover each shift and meet legislative requirements.
  • Complete all relevant documentation to ensure accurate record keeping e.g. log sheets, logbooks and checklists.
  • Monitor and adjust the plant based on the Laboratory results to ensure the plant remains optimised at all times
  • Understand and track PI trends and graphics to manage, predict or anticipate plant outcomes. 
  • Appropriately coordinate all responses to alarms in the plant.
  • Responsible for raising all work requests for the plant in Pronto in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for ensuring plant down time is minimised by exploring what alternative options are available and liaising with all operators and other plant personnel.
  • Communicate with Process plant operators, Loader drivers and other departments to optimised plant performance

 


Qualifications

  • OSH approved Forklift license, or similar would be well regarded.
  • Full and Current Driver Licence, ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred.

Experience:

  • 5 years processing plant experience, or similar.
  • Forklift, truck and skid steer loader experience an advantage
  • Previous experience with DCS and in Control Room a necessity.
  • Prior experience working in CIL/CIP, Flotation, Sag/Ball milling or pressure oxidation would be an advantage
  • Advanced skills in operating the process plant from the Control Room
