Job Description

Seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and reliable Supervisor – Permitting & Compliance who will be responsible in supervising and ensuring responsibility in forging closer and more effective relationships with government/regulatory agencies, oversee the Company’s permitting and compliance management that includes recommending improvements and development of streamlined processing of appropriate permitting systems in OGPI. The role will report to the Superintendent – Permitting and Compliance.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Oversee compliance and permitting management of the Company to ensure that Company maintains its legal standing while achieving its business goals
  • Supervise and assists in carrying out risk assessment to identify, assess and reduce/manage or address the organization’s permitting and compliance management risks
  • Supervise the development and implementation of permitting and compliance strategies and action plans that ensure Didipio Mine’s sustainable development and certainty of operation
  • Supervise and ensures the implementation of permitting and compliance policies, practices, and special programs specifically related to statutory laws and IMS
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and other legislation and keeping up to date with the Philippines, and international regulation and legislation
  • Supervise and ensures the promotion of an environmentally sensitive culture that advocates sustainability through individual commitment and volunteerism
  • Liaise with relevant regulatory agencies and other stakeholders
  • Supervise and ensure that finding of inspection audits on MRFC, MMT, ECP and other audits are reported to various department, monitor corrective actions as needed, and closed/completed within planned timeline
  • Promote and contribute in raising awareness, at all levels of an organization, of the impact of emerging environmental and other permitting and compliance issues, whether legislative or best practice, on corporate, ethical, and social responsibility especially those relating to Compliance and IMS
  • Provide training to staff at all levels on permitting and compliance management
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement in permitting and compliance management with a commitment to setting a high benchmark via best practices

Qualifications

  • Behaviour consistent with OceanaGold Values and the OceanaGold Way
  • Graduate of Engineering (i.e., Chemical, Environmental, Mining, Sanitary, etc.) or Science-related (i.e., Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, etc.) courses, or Law
  • At least three (3) years of experience in a related field preferably in a mining industry setting
  • Proficient with mining legislations such as the Mining Act, and other related regulations including but not limited to pollution control acts and regulations ( RA 6969, RA 9003, Clean Air act, Clean water act, DAO 2016-08, DAO 22, and other relevant laws.), ISO 14001:2015 and other mining-related laws
  • PRC license is an advantage
