Job Description

Seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and reliable Environment Supervisor on a Fixed Term employment to provide active assistance in impact assessments to identify, assess and reduce the organization’s environmental risks and impacts and recommends corrective actions related to Special Tree Cutting and Earth-balling Permit (STCEP) activities. The role will report to the Senior Advisor – Environment.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Spearhead active monitoring of tree cutting and log scaling activities and monitoring of STCEP tree replacement compliance
  • Supervise securing of log transport permits and log deliveries, preparation and finalizing progress and terminal reports for STCEP and other related regulatory reports and conduct of pre-cutting activities related to ex-situ and in-situ conservation
  • Provide active and direct inputs in ensuring compliance with local environmental regulatory rules and regulations and OGC standards and requirements related to STCEP and its compliance
  • Attend public hearings and consultations on environmental matters related to environmental monitoring, assessment, research, and studies, and environmental laboratory operations
  • Demonstrate and serve as a model of OGPI values in day-to-day activities, and promotes OGPI values within the department, company, and stakeholders
  • Provide active and direct inputs in ensuring the timely preparation and consolidation of internal environmental related reports such as on FTAA report, Cost Variance Report, Weekly and Monthly Operations reports, and others related to STCEP and its compliance, and Forestry team tasks and activities
  • Providing active and direct inputs in ensuring STCEP and its regulatory compliance and Forestry team’s compliance on the Integrated Management System requirements

Qualifications

  • Behaviour consistent with OceanaGold Corp. Values and the OceanaGold Way
  • Licensed Forester
  • With at least two (2) years’ experience in mining environmental management work
  • With at least one (1) year experience in ISO 14001 management system implementation work
  • With experience in Tree Cutting, Log Transport, and related DENR requirement/permit is an advantage
  • With a valid Professional Driver’s License
  • Previous experiences as Environment/Forestry Supervisor or in a similar role
  • Extensive background in STCEP process, Log transport, and log scaling
  • Extensive knowledge about ex-situ and in-situ conservation
  • Attention to detail in conducting tree cutting, log scaling, and log transport process
  • Good organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively
