Job Description

The purpose of the role is to coordinate and monitor construction activities for Projects being undertaken by the Capital Projects Group, under the overall control of the Project Manager; co-ordinate the daily activities between contractors and construction management for the various Projects being undertaken onsite.

  • Promote Health & Safety, and Environmental awareness to prevent injuries and/or damage.
  • Enforce OGC’s Zero Harm policy.
  • Direct supervision of day and night shift civil projects
  • Planning and executing Construction activities and day to day management of contractor(s) on site
  • Provide technical expertise.
  • Assist in the development of Project Policies and procedures.
  • Develop working relationships with the Site Operations Team, to enable longer term working relationships between Project teams to grow.
  • Assist the Senior Project Planner in identifying resource skills and opportunities within the Project Execution team to execute tasks and act as the liaison with these resources to initiate and manage the
  • Coordinate interfaces between the Senior Project Planner, QAQC, 3rd party survey, contractor and any other relevant party to field project needs regarding the completion of activities.
  • Maintain daily records of works management, including incidents, progress, delays, and the achievement of milestones.
  • Liaise with mine operations on deliveries of material to the TSF and other projects.
  • Liaise with mobile maintenance regarding OGC equipment. 
  • Provide data for the tracking and reporting against schedule for all Project related activities.
  • Provide inputs for daily, weekly, and monthly reports.

  • Proactively highlight any events that may adversely affect project schedule to the Senior Project Planner in a timely fashion.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see.
  • Must be able to work shift work with 12-hour shifts.
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.
  • Work is in a surface mine plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and any other protective equipment as required.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ relevant experience in a Civil supervisory position required.
  • 5+ years bulk earthworks experience required.
  • 2+ years’ experience with a large mine fleet preferred.
  • Previous experience in Tails Storage Facility construction preferred.
  • Previous experience working a high rain fall environment preferred.
  • Previous experience in sediment control preferred.
