Waihi

Waihi – A New Zealand Legacy

OceanaGold Corporation is a gold and copper producer with over 30 years of operating sustainably in New Zealand. Waihi Operation is centred around a successful underground mine and has long been a leading producer of gold and silver, supporting regional economies, contributing toNew Zealand’s exports, and driving innovation in mining technology and practices.

Waihi has deep roots in New Zealand’s gold mining history. That legacy creates a sense of pride and continuity for locals that have lived there for generations, and that history ties people to the land. Sustainability is fundamental to the way we do business. We are committed to mining responsibly, managing our effects, and more broadly, contributing to our host communities.

Waihi North Project

In addition to the current Martha Underground Mine, OceanaGold is also proposing to extend the life of mining in Waihi through the development of two exciting new projects: The The Waihi North Project and The Martha Open Pit Project.

The Martha Mine is one of the most well-known parts of the Waihi Gold Mine, and it has been one of the most significant gold mines in the country. These proposed projects have the potential to play a meaningful role in supporting the regional economy in the coming years, providing economic benefits and job security.
