Job Description
The Didipio mine is located on Luzon Island in the Philippines and is the Company’s only asset that produces both gold and copper. Didipio was built by OceanaGold in 2013 and operates fully as underground mine, with over 800 employees that support the mine.
OceanaGold is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and reliable Engineer – Civil (CDF Projects), who is responsible for providing a safe, effective and efficient Community Development Fund Projects in alignment with the OGC Values and Objectives through safe, careful planning, efficient and effective management, architecture, engineering and civil construction, maintenance, courageous execution and other related services for the CDF Projects. This role reports to the CDF Senior Engineer.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Ensures incidents/accident reports are notified to the CDF Sr. Engineer, External Affairs and Communications Department Superintendent, and Manager immediately and that persons involved in any equipment damage or accidents involving the mobile plant are drug tested as part of the incident investigation
- Plans and prepares designs and program of works of community infrastructure projects directly managed by the company
- Ensures strict implementation of OGPI QA/QC standards and other governing standards e.i. DPWH, National Structural code, National Building Code, AISC, ACI, etc. to community infrastructure projects from start to completion
- Responsible in the technical assessment and evaluation of requirements for the contractor’s accreditation
- Facilitates tendering of CDF community infrastructure projects
- Ensures timely submission of report data and/or regularly generates technical reports on the status of various community projects
- Coordinates with Accounting Team to ensure proper process of billings and collection of contractual revenue is followed.
- Develops strategies to increase social and functional engagement with stakeholders.
- Liaises and communicates with all concerned teams or parties for matters related to CDF Projects
- Supports the Safe Behaviors program
- Ensures direct reports are properly trained and systems are in place to ensure safety
- Ensures that every task is performed safely; uses the principle of:
- Stop - assess the task before doing the work
- Identify the hazards
- Assess the risks
- Control the risks
- Covers the role of the Direct Reports and peers when on break or on leave.
- Other reasonable duties as required by the immediate supervisor or Department Manager
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
- Degree in Civil Engineering
- Must have at least 4 years of experience in civil works planning design and construction work programming
- Must have at least 3 years of supervisory experience in civil construction projects or experience in construction management
- Efficient in MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Power Point
- Knowledgeable in AUTOCAD, SKETCHUP, CIVIL3D AND STAAD Operation
- Licensed Civil Engineer
- Valid Driver’s License
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles and design, including:
- Horizontal and vertical infrastructures
- Civil works, water and bridge engineering
- Geotechnical and transportation engineering
- Familiarity with structural design and design codes
- Understanding of construction management and safety practices
- Structural design and infrastructure drawings
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Civil3D, and STAAD
- Competence in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Effective communication skills
- Defensive driving ability
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
Desired Qualifications
- BOSH / COSH / Safety Officer Certification
- Registered Master Plumber
