OceanaGold are seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and reliable Geologist-Mine Geology to maintain a grade control system which ensures quality of ore production is obtained as well as the quality and quantity of the ore delivered to the mill, supervise Resource Definition drilling, as well as other sampling and mapping campaigns, to better understand and consequently communicate results to the Mining Tech Services, Mining Management and Process and Surface Operation Teams to effectively inform said teams to make timely and efficient decisions. The role will report to the Senior Geologist-Mine Geology.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Maintains and promotes company safety and environmental programs;
- Supervises drilling activities including drill area preparation, rig mobilization and set-up;
- Assists in core logging and facilitate data gathering Magsus, pXRF, and Terraspec measurements;
- Daily monitoring and inventory of Underground and ROM pad ore stockpiles;
- Provides geology inputs for the short-term plans to support the Mine Operation;
- Performs detailed mapping and sampling of development drives;
- Prepares geological maps, cross-sections, and other visualizations; and
- Daily reporting of drill progress.
- Behaviour consistent with OceanaGold Values and the OceanaGold Way;
- Should possess a strong drive for health and safety management;
- Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Geology;
- Licensed Geologist;
- Previous experience in Open Pit or Underground Geology will be well regarded;
- Knowledgeable in 3D software packages (Leapfrog, Minesight, Surpac, Deswik, etc) will be well regarded;
- With a valid Professional Driver’s License; and
- Drive for continuous improvement and innovation.
