Job Description

Are you a recent graduate or final year student, studying surveying, engineering or earth science? Join the survey team of New Zealand's biggest gold mine.  This will be a dual resource role, supporting our underground and open pit operations with the coaching and mentoring of our Technical Services professionals. Surveying is a key part of the mining process, contributing to the achievement of production targets. Responsibilities include:

  • Installation & maintenance of laser alignment system for development headings.
  • Issue Mining Instructions for the jumbo operators.
  • Complete regular survey pickups and CMS laser surveys
  • Provide regular information and reports on asbuilt vs design variances, including identification of Overbreak and within profile areas. 
  • Develop and maintain survey control points that ensure the highest accuracy for the mine.
  • Assist in various studies and projects associated with mine development and preparations for mine production.
  • Prioritise, coordinate, and execute all production survey tasks requested by internal customers to meet the requirements of the production schedule
  • Undertake production based survey field tasks in a safe and timely manner
  • Assist the Senior Mine Surveyor with end of month as built surveys and processing of data
  • Utilise survey and 3D modelling computer software to process and disseminate survey data as required in the appropriate format (hardcopy and digital).
  • Undertake deformation monitoring surveys as directed

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Surveying, Engineering or Earth Science,  or Equivalent
  • Current New Zealand Drivers License, with the ability to drive a manual vehicle.
