The maintenance planner will be responsible in the maintenance strategies planning of all equipment maintained by the department which includes establish and refine maintenance strategies for the Loading Equipment, Drilling Equipment, Hauling Equipment, Ancillary Equipment, LV Fleet in consultation with Production, Maintenance and OEMs to ensure that PM’s and routine component replacement activities will deliver the desired equipment performance – e.g., equipment availability targets.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Planning and scheduling for all heavy lift crane support to complete work on mobile equipment.
- Planning and scheduling for all mobile equipment electrical work (include trucks and support).
- Develop, optimize, and utilize standard job plans (resources, parts, tooling, task lists) for routine maintenance activities, based on site experience and OEM input, for the fleet.
- Ensure that all routine maintenance activities (labor, APL’s, SJP’s, costs, etc.) are uploaded and maintained in Pronto.
- Ensure that all commonly used parts are ANSI certified and that contractor labor is sourced from preferred suppliers only.
- Create and maintain work orders and requisitions (materials and services) in Pronto. Confirm that parts and external labor are available prior to releasing work orders.
- Liaise with Suppliers to expedite external parts and contractor labor, where necessary.
- Schedule all routine maintenance activities (work orders) in consultation with Production and Maintenance, including short-term changes to the maintenance schedules based upon Production, Maintenance and Supply requirements.
- Assist in the development of the annual budget for the assigned fleet – using a zero-based budgeting (ZBB) method as a basis. Provide updated cost information to the Planning Supervisor and Maintenance Superintendent to reforecast the budget as necessary.
- Provide quality work packs to the Maintenance Supervisors for all routine maintenance activities to ensure quality and efficient work execution. Seek detailed work completion information from the Maintenance Supervisors and resolve any issues as necessary.
- Report on standard maintenance measures that are directly related to the Loading Equipment, Drilling Equipment, Hauling Equipment, Ancillary Equipment, LV Fleet– namely, availability, mean repair duration, mean time between maintenance, component usage and cost (actual versus budget) monthly.
- Provide input and feedback to ‘TEAM’ (Total Equipment Asset Management – Reliability Improvement) to assist in improving overall equipment performance.
- Develop historical data to determine component & equipment life cycles. Use this data for Budgeting and Equipment/Component Replacement.
- Review and participate in Vendor/Contractor Management. Ensure contractors participate in required job scope reviews and comply with all company and governmental policies.
- All other duties as assigned to improve maintenance practices and/or activities.
- 5 to 10 years practical experience in a maintenance industry, preferably in a mining environment
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience with computer-based maintenance planning/scheduling
- Graduate diploma Mechanical/electrical trade or bachelor's in mechanical or electrical engineering
- Driver’s license
- Technical qualification in Maintenance Planning/Asset Management
Preferred
- Direct experience working with Loading Equipment (Hydraulic Loading Equipment), Drilling Equipment (Blasthole hole drilling equipment), Hauling Equipment (Electric drive haul trucks), Ancillary Equipment (Cat light plants, excavators, backhoe, dozer, ETC), LV Fleet (Ford trucks, chevy trucks, GMC buses, ETC).

Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear, and see.
- Must be able to work shift work with 12-hour shifts.
- Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.
- Work is in a surface mine plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.
- Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hart hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and any other protective equipment as required.
