Job Description

OceanaGold is seeking an experienced Community Relations and Development Office Manager to lead the External Affairs and Social Performance (EA&SP) function within the Didipio Mine site. To be successful in this role you will have experience forming long-term sustainable relationships with stakeholders such as government bodies, communities, NGOs, Indigenous Peoples including Didipio employees while contributing to the operational and social performance excellence.

This role will be a member of the site leadership team, reporting to the President and General Manager – External Affairs and Social Performance.

Some key tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Lead and coordinate development of stakeholder engagement plans and strategies aligned with EA&SP standards.
  • Develop and support teams to manage positive community relationships aligned with Didipio operations, this includes supporting and guiding team members and other functions on achieving enduring positive community relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Ensures human rights are considered and respected in all activities undertaken by operations and exploration, including human rights due diligence, risk assessments, impact assessments, and development of appropriate management plans to ensure human rights are respected.
  • Design, manage, or oversee any physical or economic resettlement activities required by operations or exploration.
  • Manage and resolve complaints and grievances of all stakeholders, including management reporting and analysis of grievance management systems.
  • Plan, manage and implement Corporate Social (CSR) projects including Social Development Management Program (SDMP), including budget and delivery in alignment with schedule and agreements.
  • Develop and implement management approaches by partnering and collaborating with stakeholders
  • Identify and implement improvements in external communications systems this includes aligning and implementing a strategy aligned with the Balanced Business Plan with the business area or department.
  • Manage teams effectively and report on employee performance within the department or area of responsibility including setting and overseeing the achievement of performance objectives for direct reports.
  • Implements cost-saving measures for the Department while achieving social performance outcomes and aligning in accordance with the plan and budget.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Science or a related field, with a preference for a Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in managerial or leadership roles focused on social performance.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in stakeholder engagement and dialogue, social performance management, community development, and sustainability initiatives, including research on social risks and issues.
  • Strong knowledge in areas such as United Nations Guiding Principles on Business Human Rights, Social Science Concepts and Principles, Sustainable Development Concepts and Principles, Regulatory Compliance Requirements, Responsible Gold Mining Principles, Socioeconomic baseline and impact assessments.
  • Proficient in communication, presentation and technical writing with excellent skills in stakeholder engagement, relationship building, planning and organization, compliance, leadership, data collection analysis, problem-solving and decision making.
