Job Description

OceanaGold is seeking an experienced Community Relations and Development Office Manager to lead the External Affairs and Social Performance (EA&SP) function within the Didipio Mine site. 

To be successful in this role you will have experience forming long-term sustainable relationships with stakeholders such as government bodies, communities, NGOs, Indigenous Peoples including Didipio employees while contributing to the operational and social performance excellence.

This role will be a member of the site leadership team, reporting to the President and General Manager – External Affairs and Social Performance.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Excels in strategizing and preparing plans.
  • Has strong organizational abilities.
  • Writes well and has experience in developing high-quality papers and presentations.
  • Has worked with academia, international organizations, foreign-funded projects, foundations, or NGOs/CSOs, bringing valuable insights from these fields.
  • Is familiar with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), international standards such as IFC, and human rights issues.

Some key tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Lead and coordinate development of stakeholder engagement plans and strategies aligned with EA&SP standards.
  • Design, manage, or oversee any physical or economic resettlement activities required by operations or exploration.
  • Manage and resolve complaints and grievances of all stakeholders, including management reporting and analysis of grievance management systems.
  • Plan, manage and implement Corporate Social (CSR) projects including Social Development Management Program (SDMP), including budget and delivery in alignment with schedule and agreements.
  • Develop and implement management approaches by partnering and collaborating with stakeholders
  • Identify and implement improvements in external communications systems this includes aligning and implementing a strategy aligned with the Balanced Business Plan with the business area or department.
  • Implements cost-saving measures for the Department while achieving social performance outcomes and aligning in accordance with the plan and budget.

Qualifications

 Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Science or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

Experience:

  • At least 5 years in managerial or leadership roles focusing on social performance.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in stakeholder engagement, community development, and sustainability initiatives, including social risk research.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong familiarity with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, IFC standards, and UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
  • Background in academic, international organization, or foreign-funded project environments is highly regarded.
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality papers and deliver impactful presentations.
  • Expertise in planning, organizing, and strategy development.
  • Familiarity with Responsible Gold Mining Principles and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, and stakeholder engagement skills.
