About the role
Seeking a suitably qualified and reliable Mechanic III (UG Equipment – Mobile) to perform a full range of mechanical maintenance, repair, and service activities on production equipment with considerable independent judgment in deciding with minimal supervision to ensure equipment availability in a quality, cost-efficient, environmentally, and safe manner. The role will report to the Supervisor – Mechanical Maintenance (UG Mobile Equipment).
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Complete all the necessary documentation such as work orders, and time sheets for future reference
- Communicate with others about the assigned task and discuss the outcome of the risk assessment
- Prepare a Job Action Plan and Job Hazard Analysis if required
- Check fluids such as fuel, lubricants, coolants, transmission oil, and hydraulic oils according to the manufacturer’s specifications
- Select types and grades of fluids and lubricants for the applications according to the manufacturer’s specifications and fluid capacity
- Replace fuel and oil filters and inspect for signs of contamination
- Identify types, sizes, and grades of fasteners, sealing devices, adhesives, and gaskets
- Select types of threads such as coarse and fine used for different applications
- Perform preventative maintenance of hoses, tubing, piping, and fittings by checking for deficiencies such as chafed hoses, bubbling, and leaks
- Select appropriate tools and equipment such as hydraulic presses, heating equipment, cooling equipment, seals, and bearing drivers
- Perform routine maintenance activities such as cutting, welding, heating, and cooling of materials
- Diagnoses Engine and engine support systems, hydraulic, hydrostatic, and pneumatic systems, Drive train systems, Steering, Suspension, Brake System, Wheel Assemblies, and Undercarriage, Electrical and Vehicle Management Systems, and Environmental Control Systems
- Complete Timesheets timely
- Behaviour consistent with OceanaGold Values and the OceanaGold Way
- High school graduate
- With a National Certificate related to engine repairs is an advantage
- At least 3-4 years’ experience with UG mobile equipment such as Sandvik, Normet, Volvo, and Caterpillar
- With a valid Professional Driver’s License;
- With basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Software applications
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in both verbal and written
