Job Description
This role is responsible for ensuring the dewatering of the Open Pit mine operations is completed to an appropriate standard, in a safe and efficient manner.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Perform daily inspection of all sump pumps, pump stations, associated pipelines, and generators ensuring pond levels are appropriate and no uncontrolled release of water takes place.
- Establish, install or setup Open Pit pumping equipment and pipe to ensure dewatering of active and upcoming mining benches is efficient and controlled.
- Supervise the establishment/construction of transfer sumps and ponds to support the Open Pit dewatering requirements
- Install, inspect and maintain watercart fill point/standpipe infrastructure
- Maintain Mine Operations pumping equipment and pipe work to ensure pumping requirements can be achieved
- Install and remove dewatering pipelines for the Open Pits
- Liaise with Shift Supervisors and Production Engineer to facilitate pipeline connections to ensure pit-pumping requirements are met
- Liaise with Maintenance department to ensure timely repairs of minor pumping equipment
- Electric Shovel Cable Handling
Qualifications
- A mechanical trade qualification would be an advantage
- First Aid Certificate
- Full and current class one drivers licence with ability to drive manual vehicles
- Experience in operation and maintenance of pump equipment ranging from trash pumps to high head/flow pumping systems
- Experience in handling and installation of HDPE pipe to 600mm advantageous
