The Didipio mine is located on Luzon Island in the Philippines and is the Company’s only asset that produces both gold and copper. Didipio was built by OceanaGold in 2013 and operates fully as underground mine, with over 800 employees that support the mine.
Seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and reliable Senior Project Controls Engineer for a fixed-term employment who is responsible for planning, tracking, and analyzing project performance across cost, schedule, risk, and earned value. This position ensures that appropriate control mechanisms are in place and provides critical insights to project leadership for decision-making. The role interfaces with engineering, procurement, construction, and finance teams to ensure compliance with approved plans and budgets. The title reports to the Business Services Department Manager.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain integrated project control systems, including cost, schedule, change, and risk registers;
- Prepare monthly project control reports including cost and schedule forecasts, variance analysis, and executive dashboards;
- Establish project coding structures and cost control procedures aligned with contract and WBS requirements;
- Monitor project performance against the baseline and initiate corrective actions as needed;
- Develop and maintain detailed Level 3 and Level 4 schedules using MS Project;
- Conduct schedule reviews with project teams and contractors to identify risks and mitigation strategies;
- Produce critical path, float analysis, and resource histograms to support project planning;
- Track and validate commitments, accruals, and actual costs against the project budget using cost systems (Ecosys);
- Prepare and update monthly cost forecasts including trending of expenditures and identification of potential overruns;
- Support contract management by linking cost forecasts to contract variations and change orders;
- Conduct cost benchmarking and cash flow analysis to support project financial planning;
- Implement and maintain EVM metrics (SPI, CPI, EAC, VAC) aligned with project baselines;
- Generate earned value reports and graphs to communicate project health to senior stakeholders;
- Calculate and interpret variance analysis, trend curves, and productivity factors;
- Align earned value tracking with progress measurement systems and contractor deliverables;
- Facilitate cost & schedule based risk identification workshops and maintain a dynamic project risk register with mitigation plans;
- Quantify the cost and schedule impact of risks and changes using Monte Carlo or deterministic methods;
- Conduct lessons learned reviews and risk trend analysis to improve future project planning.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical discipline;
- With minimum of 5 years relevant engineering experience including medium to large scale engineering projects, supervising junior engineers or contractors, managing project budgets, timeliness and risk;
- Has a proven track record in project lifecycle management (from planning to execution);
- Preferably with certification in planning/cost control (e.g., PMI-SP, CCP by AACE, PMP);
- License civil or related engineer;
- Knowledge in project Controls processes and lifecycle stages;
- Knowledge in Earned Value Management (EVM) and critical path method (CPM);
- Knowledge in Planning software (MS Project);
- Knowledge in Cost tracking and reporting tools (e.g., Pronto, Ecosys);
- Knowledge of change and risk management frameworks;
- Skills in High-level Excel proficiency and visual reporting (e.g., Power BI, Tableau);
- Have a communication of technical data to non-technical stakeholders;
- Skills in Data reconciliation and auditing;
- Ability to work independently under tight deadlines
- Ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights
- Ability to lead project reviews and schedule/cost risk analysis
