Job Description

The Didipio mine is located on Luzon Island in the Philippines and is the Company’s only asset that produces both gold and copper. Didipio was built by OceanaGold in 2013 and operates fully as underground mine, with over 800 employees that support the mine.

We are currently seeking an experienced and driven Superintendent – Exploration to lead our exploration initiatives and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our resource development strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the discovery, delineation, and advancement of mineral resources across OceanaGold’s tenement portfolio.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of exploration programs, ensuring alignment with safety, environmental, and sustainability standards.
  • Identify and evaluate new exploration opportunities, conducting geological, geochemical, and geophysical assessments and surveys.
  • Analyse geological data to generate, evaluate, and prioritize exploration targets, maintaining a robust and dynamic exploration pipeline.
  • Design and implement drilling programs that optimize exploration outcomes and operational efficiency.
  • Provide strategic technical leadership and mentorship to geoscience teams, fostering a high-performance culture and professional development.
  • Coordinate exploration and drilling activities with internal departments, contractors, and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of exploration activities for internal review and regulatory compliance, including statutory submissions.
  • Utilize and interpret geological modelling and GIS software to develop 2D maps and 3D models that support exploration decision-making.
  • Liaise with government agencies and local communities to support exploration initiatives and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology (B.S. Geology). 
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in mineral exploration.
  • Proven experience with Au-Cu porphyry and Au-Ag epithermal deposit systems.
  • Strong understanding of current ore deposit models.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, implementing, and managing drilling, geophysical, geochemical, and reconnaissance exploration programs.
  • Skilled in geological mapping, geochemical sampling, data analysis, interpretation, and reporting.
  • Proficient in geological interpretation, core logging (geological and geotechnical), data management, and target/project generation.
  • Licensed Geologist.
  • Expertise in ore deposit models and mineral systems.
  • GIS software: MapInfo, ArcGIS.
  • Exploration and mining software: Micromine, Leapfrog, and similar platforms.
  • Field mapping and core logging.
  • Strong analytical and computer literacy skills.
  • 4WD operation experience and training.
  • High safety awareness and commitment to safe work practices.
  • Ability to develop, coach, and mentor junior staff.
  • Capable of working under pressure and delivering results.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Demonstrates alignment with OceanaGold’s values and ethical standards.
