- Executing the monthly close process and preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports (including the quarterly management discussion & analysis) for internal management reporting and external reporting to shareholders and other stakeholders.
- Providing coaching, mentoring and leadership to direct reports.
- Ensuring the compliance with IFRS reporting standards and accounting policies and any changes thereto
- Preparing and analysing periodic financial forecasts for management review including balance sheet, earnings statements, and cash flows
- Maintenance of fixed asset records & coordinate quarterly inventory of fixed assets at the mine site.
- Supervising the payroll administration function to ensure accurate payroll processing.
- Working with human resources and operational group functions to continuously improve the payroll administration function.
- Review and implement, with assistance from Group Director of Tax, a Tax Strategy that is cost efficient and effective considering US and Canadian tax rules and regulations.
- Coordinating the response to any enquiries or audits from US and Canadian tax authorities.
- Monitoring bank balances to ensure disbursement accounts are properly reconciled
- Assisting the Commercial Manager in maintaining relevant financial records for Management, Board of Directors, and External Stakeholders.
- Coordinating and ensuring the completion of the annual external audit efficiently and effectively.
- Implementing, documenting and maintaining adequate and effective internal financial controls as well as internal controls over financial reporting
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and provincial legislation, rules and regulations related to financial disclosure
- Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in business administration
- 10 years of experience in the accounting and finance sector managing accountants and financial processes. Post graduate studies would also be well regarded for this role particularly CA.

Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see.
- Must be able to work shift work with 12-hour shifts.
- Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.
- Work is in a surface mine plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.
- Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
