Job Description
The Superintendent – Mine Geology will contribute to and sign off on the annual underground reserve statement and accompanying report for Waihi.
Key responsibilities include:
- Management of grade control programs, modelling and estimation to meet the needs of the business and Life Of Mine Plan.
- Collaborate with mining engineers and metallurgists to ensure the production of reserve estimates, budgets and integrated schedules and associated technical reports.
- Ensure that grade control modelling and reconciliation are managed to ensure appropriate ore definition and extraction.
- Provide technical supervision, mentoring, peer review and direction in the development of ore control models by underground mine geologists at Waihi.
- Champion value creation through the identification and framing of risk and opportunity within the mine.
- Ensuring all work carried out by the team conforms with regulatory and corporate governance compliance.
- People management, including providing team members with clear career development plans.
- Build and maintain effective relationships in order to retain a high-performance workforce through engagement, communication and motivation.
Qualifications
- University Degree, B.Sc. or M.Sc.or equivalent in Geosciences.
- Qualified to sign off for JORC and NI 43101 compliant resources
- Full and Current Driver Licence, ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years in mine geology, production, geological and resource modelling
- Experience in and a good understanding of underground grade control, ore tracking, reconciliation and reporting systems.
