Job Description
Safely and efficiently perform welding, general engineering and fabrication work as required to repair and maintain underground mining machinery.
- Perform daily routine inspections, monitor and record the condition of ground engaging tooling and wear package materials on machinery attachments for all underground mining equipment.
- Carry out general welding repairs and light fabrication work on mining machinery and other plant and equipment as required.
- Replacement of ground engaging tooling.
- Monitor and record wear rates of wear package materials on buckets, blades and bodies and truck trays.
- Complete engineer’s reports on mining equipment during PM maintenance.
- Assess, plan and supervise engineering projects to be completed by contractors.
- Attending and assisting with breakdowns of the mining fleet and ancillary plant as required
Qualifications
- National Certificate in Engineering - Fabrication (Level 4) or similar.
- 5 years mining experience preferred.
- First Aid; forklift operations; overhead crane; rigging and slinging and work at height to relevant NZ standards, preferred though not essential/
- Full and Current Driver Licence, ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred.
- Be familiar with the use of CMMS (computer maintenance management systems) for task / work-order generation and requisitioning of materials and resources.
