Job Description
Ensure all Open Pit Drill and Blast activities are compliant with production targets and are completed in a safe and efficient manner.
- Evaluate the compliance of drill activities to design parameters.
- Ensure the security of the blast area prior to and during blasting.
- Report and rectify any breaches of safety or hazards in consultation with the Drill and Blast Supervisor or their representative.
- Ensure the work quality of the blast crew and equipment is maintained.
- Safety/explosives rules and regulations, including site rules or schedules, legislation and site specification instructions are observed.
- Ensure each blast area is correctly prepared and controlled during all loading and blasting activities, in accordance to all legislative requirements and site procedures.
Qualifications
- Full and Current Driver Licence, ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred.
- Approved Handlers Certificate
- Controlled Substances License
- Minimum 3 years’ open pit mining or quarry experience with emphasis on drill and blast operations
