Job Description

Our Macraes Metallurgical team is on the search for an Energy Engineer. If you have qualifications and experience across Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy or similar, and are keen to join New Zealand’s largest gold mine, this role could be for you!

Based at the Macraes Process Plant, this position will be responsible for identifying, evaluating and managing energy-related projects and programs that reduce energy consumption or improve energy efficiency across the site. Additionally, it will provide technical support to process plant team.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Identify energy savings opportunities and make recommendations to optimise energy efficiencies
  • Manage the development, design, or construction of energy conservation projects to meet safety, approved specifications, budget and timelines.
  • Conduct energy audits to evaluate energy use, costs or conservation measures
  • Monitor plant metallurgical and operational performance to identify potential risks or areas for improvement
  • Conduct continuous improvement projects within processing
  • Liaise with the operational and maintenance teams on unit processes to allow efficient operation and an effective maintenance strategy
  • Responsible for monitoring and measuring the results of improvement projects
  • Responsible for documenting and reporting progress of energy projects

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy or the equivalent.
  • Full and Current Driver Licence, and ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred         

Experience

  • 1-5 Years work experience in a process engineering environments associated with qualification is preferred. 
  • Experience with project development and execution, laboratory test work, energy audits, PI integration with MATLAB software would be well regarded.
