Job Description

The Didipio mine is located on Luzon Island in the Philippines and is the Company’s only asset that produces both gold and copper. Didipio was built by OceanaGold in 2013 and operates fully as underground mine, with over 800 employees that support the mine.

Seeking a suitably qualified, and motivated Engineer – Civil/Structural to provides engineering support and advice on the planning, structural analysis, design, and project development of infrastructure projects funded by OGPI within the mine and within the host and adjacent communities of the Didipio operation and exploration communities within the FTAA. The role requires an expertise in the application of civil and structural engineering principles in the planning, development and design of horizontal and vertical infrastructure projects, including design of scaffoldings. It is also responsible in the signing and sealing of legal and public technical documents such as designs and plans for permitting applications, technical reports on structural inspections or studies, civil and structural specifications, and other related documents requiring the sign and seal of a Civil/Structural Engineer. The role will report to the Senior Engineer - Civil.

  • The ability to execute structural analysis and design of structures, and prepare detailed engineering plans by complying with design codes including DPWH standards that aid in the development of cost- effective, modern, and state-of-the-art facilities;
  • The ability to effectively build and manage relationships with various stakeholders, engaging with them in planned and meaningful ways in pursuit of OGPI’s strategic objectives;
  • The ability to efficiently and systematically control the creation, receipt, maintenance, use, and disposition of records by consistently adhering to the record management procedure ensuring correct data to maintain evidence of activities, transactions, and decisions. This includes the development, implementation and management of records to immediately provide the needed data or documents;
  • Ability to identify potential risks and implementing strategies to mitigate them, such as developing contingency plans for unexpected challenges that may arise during project implementation; and
  • The ability to develop, implement, and monitor projects program plans that are aligned with the strategic objectives of the organization.

Qualifications

Educational Background:

  • Degree in Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering

Work Experience and Background:

  • 2 years of experience in civil works planning, design, and construction work programming
  • 3 years of experience in structural analysis and design of vertical/horizontal structures
  • 5 years of cumulative work experience in actual construction projects

Specialization/License:

  • Licensed Civil Engineer
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Structural Design

Knowledge:

  • Computer Operation (Office365, AutoCAD, STAAD, and ETABS/SAP2000/Tekla Structures)
  • Technical and practical skills to undertake role
  • Displays high degree of safety and environmental awareness and a drive for continuous improvement

Skills:

  • Excellent planning, organizing and prioritization capabilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Effective problem-solving skills

Abilities:

  • Strong results orientation and ability to consistently deliver targets against the plan
  • Motivated self-starter who can work autonomously and can work under pressure while remain professional
  • Demonstrated professionalism
  • Proven ability to approach situations with balanced equanimity
