Seeking a suitably qualified and reliable Geologist (Geologist) to support and assist the company in its pursuit of exploration and discovery of Au-Cu deposits in the Philippines. The role is intended as a starting position for a geologist with 1-2 years of experience or recent graduates with relevant skills and experience. The position is Fixed term, Didipio Mine based and will report to the Senior Geologist-Exploration.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Participate and actively collaborate with all safety, health and environment-oriented activities, initiatives, programs and compliances.
- Support the Implementation of MGB endorsed Exploration Work Programs (ExWP).
- Assist with field-based mapping, sampling and exploration target assessment
- Assist with execution of drilling programs and drill core logging
- Assist with GIS data processing and database management.
- Contribute to sections of regular company reporting and statutory reporting requirements.
- Liaise with government agency and local stakeholders/community
- Behaviour consistent with OceanaGold Values and the OceanaGold Way
- Licensed Geologist
- Preference for those with relevant experience in field-based geological Mapping and Core logging
- Ideally, having one (1) year of relevant experience in Mining or Mineral Exploration
- Recent graduates will be considered, ideally having completed an Internship, a Skills Appreciation Program or other relevant training
- Knowledge of mineral deposit models and basic geochemical and geophysical exploration techniques.
- Understanding, training and/or exposure to GIS software
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Willingness to work in challenging terrain and remote locations.
- Strong safety awareness and commitment to workplace safety.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
