Job Description

Seeking a suitably qualified and experienced, and reliable Metallurgist to safely provide metallurgical input into the efficient running of the process plant and associated service areas to maximize copper tonnes and gold ounces recovered. Reporting to the Senior Metallurgist.


Qualifications

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Ensures compliance with OceanaGold Philippines, Inc., company values, policies and standards;
  • Always refers to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) when dealing with reagents or other hazardous substances;
  • Performs troubleshooting and/or investigative metallurgical/operational duties as required to ensure the Process Plant is optimized;
  • Liaises with Maintenance personnel daily to ensure technical requirements of the Process Plant are met;
  • Provides ongoing training and development to production staff to ensure adherence to safe work practices, particularly in relation to the handling of hazardous materials, and supplies technical guidance and training in the formulation of these practices;
  • Liaises with external consultants, researchers, laboratories, and other sites to improve technical knowledge with the main objective to efficiently operate the process plant.

Qualifications:

  • Behaviour consistent with OceanaGold Corp. Values and the OceanaGold Way;
  • Bachelor’s degree in metallurgical Engineering or equivalent;
  • With PRC License in Metallurgical Engineering is preferred;
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a Metallic Mine processing plant and exposure to gold and copper base metal extraction including exposure to Automated Control Systems (DCS) and SCADA is preferred;
  • Can demonstrate open-mindedness, creative thinking, and a willingness to adapt to the dynamic work environment.
  • Commercial acumen relevant to the role and strong demonstrated abilities to lead and work effectively within culturally diverse workforce settings.
