Haile Gold Mine is currently seeking a dynamic and driven Mine Engineer to join our Open Pit Planning Team. As a Mine Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in planning, designing, and optimizing our Open Pit operation, emphasizing long-term goals. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment with a talented team of professionals.

While this role will start in the Open Pit Planning Team, there are numerous opportunities for career placements within our organization. Future roles could include Underground and Open Pit positions, such as medium-range planning, short-range scheduling, drill and blast, continuous improvement, geotechnical engineering, ventilation engineering, and more. We are committed to providing our employees with the training and support they need to excel in their careers.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the engineering, geology, and mine operations team to develop short-range mine plans that optimize production and aligns with mid-range and LOM plans.
- Collaborate with engineering, geology, and commercial to generate EOM reconciliation of mining areas.
- Generate mine and drill pattern designs, drill pattern designs, blast timing, activity sequences, and schedules for the short-range mine plan.
- Generate and analyze weekly, monthly, and bench plan compliance to identify areas for improvement.
- Monitor and analyze pit and dump progression to identify areas of for improvement.
Coordinate with other departments to ensure mine plans align with overall production goals.
Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in open pit mine planning and design.
Proficiency with mine planning software such as Vulcan, OPMS, Xeras, and/or Whittle.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
