Job Description

 

Haile Gold Mine is currently seeking a dynamic and driven Mine Engineer to join our Open Pit Planning Team. As a Mine Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in planning, designing, and optimizing our Open Pit operation, emphasizing long-term goals. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment with a talented team of professionals.

While this role will start in the Open Pit Planning Team, there are numerous opportunities for career placements within our organization. Future roles could include Underground and Open Pit positions, such as medium-range planning, short-range scheduling, drill and blast, continuous improvement, geotechnical engineering, ventilation engineering, and more. Key tasks and responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with the engineering team to develop long-range mine plans that optimize production and maximize resource recovery. 

  • Conduct optimization studies to identify cost savings and operational improvement opportunities. 

  • Collaborate with all departments and engineering disciplines to integrate long-term mine infrastructure projects into the mine plan 

  • Generate mine designs, activity sequences, and schedules for the long-range mine plan 

  • Create LOM dump designs and sequencing 

  • Monitor and analyze mine performance metrics to identify areas for improvement. 

  • Assist with the development of budgets and forecasts for mine operations. 

Coordinate with other departments to ensure mine plans align with overall production goals. 


Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field. 

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in open pit mine planning and design. 

  • Proficiency with mine planning software such as Vulcan, OPMS, Xeras, and/or Whittle. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
