Job Description
The Didipio mine is located on Luzon Island in the Philippines and is the Company’s only asset that produces both gold and copper. Didipio was built by OceanaGold in 2013 and operates fully as underground mine, with over 800 employees that support the mine.
As the Senior Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for guiding and developing the Reliability Engineering team to improve equipment reliability and optimise asset performance across the site.
Key responsibilities include:
Performance & Cost Analysis
- Identify plant improvement opportunities through Loss Profile Analysis
- Develop and implement strategies to maximise plant output
Reliability Studies
- Design and refine condition monitoring programs for all assets
- Conduct detailed reliability studies using statistical tools, reliability modelling, and Weibull analysis
Root Cause Analysis
- Lead multidisciplinary investigations into major plant failures
- Identify root and latent causes, create actionable plans, and track implementation
Maintenance Strategy Definition
- Define maintenance strategies using RCM methodology, including criticality assessments and FMEAs
- Support strategy rollout within the Pronto CMMS
Engineering Collaboration
- Work with operations and project engineering teams to embed reliability and maintainability into new asset designs
- Ensure alignment with applicable engineering standards and guidelines
Qualifications
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or a related discipline)
Experience:
• Minimum 10 years of experience in mining or heavy industrial environments
• Previous expatriate experience with a focus on mentoring and developing local teams
Specialisations & Certifications:
• Valid driver’s licence
• Expertise in Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM)
• Proficient in condition monitoring techniques
• Sound financial understanding and budgeting capability
Technical Knowledge:
• Broad mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge
• Strong understanding of fixed plant and mobile equipment systems
• In-depth knowledge of condition-based maintenance principles and practices
Skills:
• Advanced data collection and analysis
• Strong financial acumen
• Proficient in root cause analysis tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone (Ishikawa), Pareto charts, and scatter diagrams
• Experienced in technical training and staff development
Abilities:
• Excellent communication skills across all levels of the organisation
• Proven mentoring and coaching capabilities
• Culturally adaptable with the ability to work effectively in diverse environments
