Job Description

This position is responsible for the providing overall support for  the Fleet Management System (FMS) in the Macraes open pit mine, such that the value adding potential of the system is maximised.

  • Oversee the construction, installation and ongoing maintenance of the FMS mine model.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate collection and processing of relevant fleet data and present this to system customers.
  • Maintain the FMS reporting system through the application of Power BI
  • Ensure that Mine Controllers and operators are trained in the best practice use of the FMS.
  • Manage the FMS service and support contract, to ensure the supplier meets their obligations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve fleet utilisation and efficiency.
  • Monitor system performance.
  • Develop and maintain a culture of continuous improvement in mine fleet management.
  • Work closely with the Maintenance team and the Senior Specialist – Mine Communications & Data to ensure that the underlying network and hardware is operating effectively and efficiently.
  • Coach the Mine Controllers in the technical aspects of running the FMS
  • Assist the Mine Operations supervision in training and developing a pool of Mine Controllers across all shifts
  • Understand the procedures and processes involved with managing people and projects and apply them appropriately to the different situations
  • Challenge attitudes and behaviours to promote wider thinking

Qualifications

  • Full and Current Driver Licence, ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred.
  • Tertiary qualification relevant to mining (mine engineering, surveying, geology) and/or IT is preferred
  • A high degree of computer literacy, with experience in hardware, firmware, software databases and operating systems preferred
  • At least five years’ experience in an open pit mining environment, which must include a significant proportion in a production environment
  • Experience in the use of a Tier 1 Fleet Management System, or other equivalent relational databases
