About the role
OceanaGold are seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and reliable Specialist – Maintenance Shutdown who will be responsible for ensuring that shutdown plans are developed properly in line with AM11 – Shutdown Management guidelines. Responsible also for creating and overseeing maintenance shutdown and project schedules, ensuring that all tasks are executed and completed on time including planning and scheduling of all maintenance shutdown activities at the Process Fixed Plant areas. The role reports to the Superintendent – Shutdown.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to all relevant safety standards and environmental regulations;
- Identify shutdown-related work-scope and conduct a review to ensure the objectives are achieved;
- Ensure detailed work order planning, including task breakdown and resource allocation and identify material requirements, tools, equipment, labour, and specialist support if needed.
- Forecast all major shutdown works and ensure adherence to preventive maintenance schedules;
- Prepares shutdown plans while ensuring that deliverables are optimized for production efficiency;
- Generate and manage the sequence of shutdown schedules, encompassing work orders related to engineering and shutdown planning;
- Leads effective meetings to review and refine schedule to align with the budgeted timeframe making critical decisions regarding schedule content and its implications;
- Identifies and reports any deviations or risks related to scope changes to the shutdown management team, and systematically submits contingency plans to the leadership team;
- Provides input for the development of shutdown processes related to procurement, materials control, and system management; and
- Identifies opportunities for shutdown improvements by reviewing practices, criteria, and procedures for an effective shutdown execution.
- Behaviour consistent with OceanaGold Values and the OceanaGold Way;
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or equivalent;
- Licensed Engineer;
- Minimum of 3 years in maintenance shutdown planning & scheduling role; maintaining fixed plant equipment (e.g., grinding mills, conveyors, crushers, pumps, filters, electrical motors, etc.) or other related industry experience;
- Experience in material planning and understanding supply chain processes;
- Preferably coming from Mining or related industry;
- Understanding basic mechanical and electrical systems;
- Knowledge of maintenance system processes and asset management;
- Proficient in using MS Office Applications (Excel, PowerPoint Word, etc.)
- Proficient in using scheduling tools or software (MS Project), Computerized Maintenance Management System – PRONTO, and Technical Drawing (CAD); and
- Good oral and written communication skills.
