Our Waihi Operation in the North Island of New Zealand is an underground operation. A recent consent to develop the previous Martha mine has provided our project with an extension of life providing our 350 staff and contractors, and the people of Waihi, an assurance that we plan to be here for the long-term.

This is a critical leadership role within the Geology team, responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of field-based geological programs. Leading from the front, this role drives operational discipline, contractor performance, and continuous improvement initiatives while holding accountability for safety, logistics, and commercial performance in the field.
Key responsibilities
- Supervision of the daily execution of surface, underground, and heli-supported drilling programs and field logistics.
- Oversee contractor performance, ensuring compliance with technical scope, safety, and cost expectations.
- Approve and verify drill plods, contractor productivity reports, and associated cost controls.
- Ensure timely support for land access, rehabilitation, and environmental compliance in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Lead and model safe work practices across all field activities, including drilling, sampling, and logistics.
- Lead or participate in safety investigations (ICAM) and drive timely implementation of corrective actions.
- Support core shed operations to ensure safe and efficient handling, preparation, and dispatch of samples.
- Provide leadership in resource planning, roster management, and contractor engagement.
- Tertiary qualifications in Earth Science, Business or related field highly regarded.
- Full and Current Driver Licence, ability to drive manual vehicles.
- Extensive field experience in exploration or mine geology environments.
- Proven incident investigation experience (e.g. ICAM).
- 4WD, First Aid, Bush Skills, and Helicopter Access experience preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, GIS, and geological data systems preferred.
