Geologist

At OceanaGold, our Geologists are proficient in geological interpretation and geotechnical core logging.

Underground Geotechnical Technician

Key responsibilities of these roles include supporting ground control execution through geotechnical monitoring, quality assurance testing, and data collection. Generally speaking, you might find yourself:

• Installing, calibrating, and troubleshooting geotechnical instruments
• Supporting underground development and stope blast vibration monitoring programs
• Conducting strength testing for grout, shotcrete, and backfill
• Maintaining and updating the geotechnical database, ensuring data accuracy and completeness
• Assisting in preparing reports
• Calculating and tracking backfill volumes to support stope backfill design and optimization

Summer Internships

Here at OceanaGold, we don’t just offer career routes for established mining professionals. We’re proud of our early careers offering too. 

If you’re an ambitious student studying Geotechnical Engineering, we have the perfect internship opportunities.

Our paid internships run from mid-November through to mid-February and will see you work as part of our talented Geotechnical team, on-site at Macraes. 

So, what will you be doing?

• Gaining practical experience in your chosen field of study by working on diverse projects assigned by department managers and team members
• Participating in various group activities and projects with other Interns provides you with a well-rounded knowledge of the mining process.
• Presenting your experiences and key learnings to the Site Management Team at the conclusion of the internship, showcasing your growth and achievements.
