Since restarting operations in 2017 under OceanaGold, Haile Gold Mine has significantly impacted the local economy, environment, and community. We proudly support over 85 organizations, businesses, and local governments, fostering growth and resilience in the region.

Economic Impact:

The total current annual economic impact of Haile Gold Mine on Lancaster County is estimated at $568.7 million, supporting 1,177 jobs and $106.3 million in labor income. Expanding to the surrounding six-county region (Lancaster, Chester, Chesterfield, Fairfield, Kershaw, and York counties), the mine contributes $634.0 million annually, supporting 1,413 jobs and $117.8 million in labor income. Statewide, Haile Gold Mine’s total economic impact reaches $717.5 million, generating significant economic activity across South Carolina.


Carolina Heelsplitter Conservation Project

We are dedicated to protecting and restoring the habitat of the endangered Carolina Heelsplitter mussel, working closely with U.S. Fish and Wildlife to ensure sustainable conservation efforts.

The Schoolhouse Project:

In partnership with the community, we are relocating and restoring the historic Haile Gold Mine School in Kershaw, transforming it into a community meeting space that honors our past while supporting future generations.
